Crusaders Score Top Rankings in USCAA Coaches' Poll

Three of Christendom's USCAA athletic teams scored top rankings in the first Coaches' Poll of the fall, with women's volleyball ranking #3, men's soccer #5, and women's soccer #11. The Coaches' Poll is decided by every coach in the USCAA, making it the definitive ranking system and making this accomplishment for Christendom that much more notable.

The #3 ranking is one of the highest in school history for Lady Crusader volleyball — a testament to their growth and recent hot streak. The Lady Crusaders are in the midst of a five-game winning streak, defeating a D-III school and seeing Michaela Pennefather achieve a career high 16 kills. They are currently 7-5.

The Crusaders have played strong from the beginning of their season and currently stand at a 4-1 record. Their #5 ranking is, like Lady Crusader volleyball, one of their highest rankings ever, and they are seeing Pete Day have another incredible scoring season along the way. Day has scored nine goals in the first five games, including a four-goal match against D-III Marymount, and ranks third in goals in the USCAA.

Lady Crusader soccer may have lost its last two games, but they are still playing strong enough soccer to score a #11 ranking. They are currently 3-5 on their season, but many of those losses have occurred in awful weather conditions. Better weather in the future, along with more strong scoring from new player Annie McGraw, could see the Lady Crusaders ascend higher in the rankings.
