Christendom Cancels All Spring Athletic Events

Christendom Cancels All Spring Athletic Events

On March 30, Christendom College made the heartbreaking decision to extend online-only instruction through the rest of the semester and close all residence halls. This decision came after President Trump's announcement of an extension of social distancing guidelines until April 30, along with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's "stay at home" order for Virginia, which, at this time, extends through June 10.  The order explicitly requires institutions of higher learning to cease any in-person classes and cancel all gatherings of more than 10 individuals.

This step is an extremely painful one, especially when thinking of our senior student-athletes. We would like to thank all of them for their hard work, leadership, and example for the past four years.  Those 27 seniors are:

Mary Heisler -Volleyball and Basketball / Michaela Pennefather -Volleyball / Margaret Howerton -Cross Country / John Lemmon -Cross Country / Will Arnold -Rugby / Tommy Audino -Rugby / Chris Culbreath -Rugby / Jon Messing -Rugby, Basketball, Baseball / Patrick Newton -Rugby / Greg O'Brien -Rugby / James Scrivener -Rugby / Kate Santschi -Soccer / Anna Solitario -Soccer / Josh Mead -Soccer / Tim Claus -Soccer / James Foeckler -Soccer / Matt Hill -Soccer and Rugby / Ian Heisler -Soccer, Basketball, Baseball / Tommy Vander Woude -Soccer and Basketball / Michael Urankar -Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball / Carlos Pardo Gasque -Soccer / John Bailey-Basketball / Sofia Skuba -Softball / Margaret Speer -Softball / Emily Palm -Softball / Rebecca Byrne -Softball / Anthony Palumbo -Baseball

This group of seniors includes Academic All-Americans, All-Americans, and all-stars. Most importantly, every single one of them is a Crusader, dedicated to the love of the game and the glory of God. You are all in our prayers during this time.

God bless,

Patrick Quest
