Senior Spotlight-Josh Mead

Senior Spotlight-Josh Mead

Christendom Athletics would like to lighlight and thank Josh Mead, a senior student-athlete from Nokesville. Josh was a dedicated member of the men's soccer team throughout his four years at Christendom and was a 3-time USCAA Academic All-American.

When asked about his decision to attend Christendom, Josh responded, "I ultimately decided to come to Christendom because of the authentically Catholic community that allows men and women to grow in faith and virtue together." His experience with athletics helped to further support his decision. Josh explained that "Christendom's athletics program played a big role in growing as a person and fostering friendships. Your teammates are your brothers, and whether it's on the field, in the classroom, or in the dorms, you're always there for them, and they're also there for you. In addition, the competitive environment in the soccer program was a great outlet to grow in appreciation for the game and do it for the glory of God."

When asked how Christendom has affected him, Josh replied, "Being at Christendom has given me the academic and intellectual tools needed for post-grad success. But, more importantly, it has strengthened my faith and brought me closer to God through those around me."

He gives his advice to all following student-athletes by saying, "Keep your hamstrings healthy. But seriously, always keep your priorities in line, and remember that being a student-athlete is in a way more about others than yourself. It's about your team, and always involves some type of sacrifice. Embrace this opportunity and always be willing to give yourself to the team."

Josh's all-time favorite memory was beating Washington Adventist University his freshman year and scoring 4 goals in 10 minutes on either side of the half, the Crusaders going on to win the game 4-3 win!

Josh would like to thank Coach Foeckler and Coach Guttierrez for their dedication and service to the team, and for their example and mentorship of Christian values both on and off the field.
