Crusaders Honored by USCAA for Excellence on the Field and in the Classroom

The USCAA honored its student-athletes this past week, with awards for stellar performances, on the field, court, and in the classroom. Christendom was well represented, with Crusader athletes receiving multiple awards in both categories. Six Crusaders were given the honor of being chosen to the All-American Team; an award given to those who show excellence in their respective sport. For performance in the classroom, an impressive 18 Crusaders were awarded to the All-Academic Team. The All-Academic Team is awarded to student-athletes who have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours, played a fall varsity sport, while also achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.

 

The Following Student-Athletes were honored with the All-American award:

Men's Soccer: Mark LaRochelle(Senior/Napa, CA) was awarded to the First Team All-American. In only eight games, LaRochelle was able to light up the stats sheet, with 11 goals, 4 assists and 26 points. LaRochelle's impressive offensive effort this season, granted him the First Team All-American award.

Women's Soccer: Miranda Keller(Freshman/Harrisburg, PA) was awarded to the All-American Honorable Mention Team. Keller earned this award for her effort as Crusader Goalie. Over the course the season, Keller recorded 56 saves in nine games. During the season Keller was awarded USCAA Goalie of the week, twice. Receiving both Honorable Mention and Goalie of the Week is a noteworthy accomplishment for any player, especially for a freshman in her first collegiate season.

Annie McGraw(Senior/Manassas, VA) was also awarded to the All-American Honorable Mention Team. McGraw amazed opponents with her intense energy throughout the entire game. From minute one to minute 90, she never took her foot off the gas. McGraw, notched 2 goals and 2 assists in the season helping her to receive her Honorable Mention.

Sofia Hudson(Junior/Manassas, VA) was the third Lady Crusader soccer player to be selected to the All-American Honorable Mention Team. Throughout the season, Hudson did a superb job controlling the pace of play for the Crusaders, as she quarterbacked the Crusader's offense from her mid-field position. Hudson's dominant play and 3 assists helped her receive her Honorable Mention.

Christine McLaughlin(Junior/Fauquier, VA) was awarded First Team All-American. McLaughlin's offensive dominance was on full display throughout the season. A true goal scorer, she found the back of the net 13 times in just seven games. This impressive stat was more than enough to get McLaughlin her First Team All-American award. Earlier in the season McLaughlin was also awarded with USCAA player of the week.

Volleyball: Agnes Wingate(Sophomore/Huntly, VA) was selected to the All-American Honorable Mention Volleyball Team. Wingate's outstanding offensive abilities shined throughout season. She finished the season with 128 kills, 25 solo blocks, 7 block assists, and 13 service aces. Wingate, in only 10 games played, racked up 169 points, an impressive number considering the short season. Her striking offensive performance propelled Wingate to receive the All-American Honorable Mention.

Men's Soccer: Ethan Robertson(Sophomore/Winchester, VA), Mark LaRochelle, Joseph Madigan(Junior/Concord, NJ), and John Paul Vander Woude(Sophomore/Nokesville, VA), Pablo Boada(Senior/Woodlands, TX)

Women's Soccer: Rachel Grande(Sophomore/Buffalo, NY), Christine McLaughlin, Erin Hatley(Sophomore/Grand Rapids, MI), Virginia Stahl(Sophomore/Linden, VA), and Christina Rodriguez(Sophomore/Mission Viejo, CA)

Volleyball: Agnes Wingate, Angelina Fedoryka(Sophomore/Front Royal, VA), Madalyn Messier(Sophomore/Haymarket, VA), and Fiona Briggs(Sophomore/Front Royal, VA)

Women's Cross Country: Margaret Kolesar(Junior/Cranberry, PA), and Mary Rose Feuerborn(Sophomore/Lincoln, NE)

Men's Cross Country: Alex McDonald(Sophomore/Catlett, VA), Noah Wollersheim(Sophomore/Raleigh, NC)
