Crusaders Drop Weekend Doubleheader at Central Penn

Summerdale, Pennsylvania- Crusader Baseball fell in a pair of games on a road trip to Central Penn College. 

In the first game, the Crusaders fell 8-2 to the Knights. 

The bats went cold in the first game, with only four hits by four different players. Freshman third-baseman Hugh Wingate went 1-2 with one RBI, which was a single knocking in Frank Scarchilli. 

The Crusaders played well defensively up until the fifth inning, coming in with a 1-0 lead and came out down 7-1.  

Kevin Dow started the game pitching for the Crusaders, pitching 4 scoreless innings before being relieved ⅔ of the way in the 6th inning by Tommy Sullivan who finished the game out.  

The Knights were led by Alex Dominguez who went 3-4 with two RBI’s.

Zavier Hernandez picked up the win for Central Penn on the Mound. 

 

In the second game, the Crusaders lost by a score of 10-1. 

The bats warmed up a little bit for the Crusaders this game, with eight hits by seven players. Senior right-fielder Mike Mersch went 2-3 and Wingate went 1-3 with an RBI. 

 Steven Buonocore started on the mound for Christendom, pitching three innings before being relieved by Caleb Wilson, who was later relieved by Anthony Palumbo. Wilson pitched two scoreless innings while on the mound with three strikeouts. 

The Knights were led by Zach Boyer and Christopher Rosario offensively, who both went 2-3 with three RBI’s. 

Zachary Haefner Picked up the win for the Knights on the mound, pitching 5 innings in the process.

 

The Crusaders will get a chance at redemption against this same Knights team next Monday, April 12, at Bing Crosby in an evening doubleheader.
