Crusaders Snap Cold Spell With Sweep of Valley Forge

Crusaders Snap Cold Spell With Sweep of Valley Forge

The Crusaders returned to action for a double header at Bing Crosby Stadium on Saturday, April 14 to take on the Valley Forge Patriots. The Crusaders came out swinging and tallied up fifteen hits in the first game. They were led by Kolbe Heisler, Ian Heisler, Michael Mersch, Josh Wilson, Stephen Buonocore, and Michael Urankar who all put up multiple hits. Sophomore Tim Clauss had his first hit of the year, while Urankar and Ian Heisler both had 4 RBIs a piece. Valley Forge had no answer for the hot bats of the Crusaders, and couldn't get anything going off of the stellar pitching of Ian Heisler, leading Christendom to victory, 17-4.

In the Second game the swinging Crusaders came to play again, banging out a total of thirteen hits. Freshman Stephen Buonocore had the only extra base hit for the Crusaders, hitting a line drive to the fence for a double. The Heisler brothers, Ian and Kolbe, combined for six RBIs in the second game (three apiece).  Behind the pitching of Buonocore and Freshman Caleb Wilson, the Crusaders ended up with another victory, 15-5.

The boys return to action this weekend as they face Central Penn on Friday night and Williamson Free Trade on Saturday afternoon, both games on the road.
