Crusaders Kick off Second Half of Season Vs. Valley Forge and Williamson

Valley Forge, PA- The Crusaders kicked off the second half of the season this past weekend (Jan 17-19) when they traveled away playing the Patriots of Valley Forge, and the Mechanics of Williamson Free Trade.

The Crusaders took on Valley Forge (Jan 17) in their first game back, where they fell by a score of 105-80.  The Crusaders were led offensively by both Owen Kennedy (Sophomore) and Jon Messing (Senior).  Kennedy pulled down 14 rebounds and scored 17 points and Messing led the team in points with 21 going an impressive 8-11 from the field, while also grabbing 9 rebounds.  Despite the efforts of Kennedy and Messing the Crusaders poor defense caused them to allow over 100 pts. in the loss.

The next day (Jan 18), the Crusaders traveled to Williamson where they took on the Mechanics of Williamson Free Trade.  The team got off to a good start jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first minutes of the game.  However, things went down hill quickly as the Crusaders offense could not find ways to put points on the board.  The team finished the first half with just 18 points, while tallying only 35 points the entire game.  The team's poor offensive effort led to them losing by a final score of 72-35.

The Crusaders have two games this week; Penn State Mont Alto (Jan 22) and Appalachian Bible College (Jan 25).
