Freshman Thomas Santschi winds up for a pass

Crusader Rugby came up just short as they fell to University of Virginia.  Both teams played hard in this back and forth affair, but at the end of the day it all came down to the kicking game.  The Crusaders could have tied the game if they had been able to connect on all their post-try kicks, known as conversions.  Senior Thomas Audino, the team's kicker could not burry a crucial conversion.  This miss left the Crusaders with two less points than they would have had he made it.  Although the Crusaders fought hard, they could not come back from the miss.  At the end of the game the scoreboard revealed just how important the missed conversion was, the final score being 35-33.  The University of Virginia is a division above the Crusaders in the Cardinal Conference.  Although this loss is not what the Crusaders wanted it is not a defeat that will crush their hopes for the rest of the season.
