The Crusaders Took Down #1 Ranked Johnson and Wales on Oct. 11

The Christendom College Crusaders pulled off a huge upset against #1 ranked Johnson and Wales this past Friday (Oct. 11).  The unranked Crusaders went into the game big underdogs vs their number one ranked opponent.  Although they were underdogs, they came out with fire in their eyes playing toe to toe with their heavyweight opponent and after the first 15 mins the score was still even at 0-0.  The 16th min brought a moment of glory for the Crusaders, Thomas Vander Woude sent a through ball to Senior James Foeckler, James took the ball down the left flank and then found space to send a cross.  On the back end of James' cross was Sophomore Mark LaRochelle, who took a one time shot from just inside the 18 yard box, burying it in the bottom right corner.  After the goal the defensive game was on for the Crusaders.  They defended in numbers, placing at least 10 players behind the ball at all times.  The second half possession stats were around 80%-20% in favor of Johnson and Wales.  With 3 mins left Johnson and Wales looked as if they scored the equalizer, but after the ball had gone in, the official called the goal back due to a hand ball.  Throughout the entire second half the Crusaders bent many times, but never broke, and when the 90th min came the scoreboard read 1-0 Crusaders.  This is the best win of the year for the Crusaders and could very easily be the biggest win in Christendom Soccer history.  With this win the Crusaders advance to 5-5 on the year.
