Crusaders Fall 2-1 to Catamounts

Keyser, WV- The Crusader Men's Soccer took on Potomac State Catamounts Thursday, September 23. Although it was a close battle, the Crusaders fell to the Catamounts 2-1.

The Catamounts jumped out to an early lead, scoring their only two goals in the first five minutes of the game. Although the Crusaders fell behind early, they were able to regroup and find their rhythm. After the first five minutes the Crusaders dominated play, as they were determined to bring the game back even. The score at half being 2-0.

45 minutes back on the clock, both teams fought hard to keep the ball out of their net. The second half proved to be a defensive battle as neither team scored for the greater part of the second half. Finally, in the last seven minutes of the game, leading goal scorer Mark LaRochelle(Senior/Napa CA) buried the teams only goal of the game, assisted by John Paul Tsakanikas(Freshman/Front Royal VA).

The Crusaders ended the game ahead in almost every category, they out shot, out possessed, had more corners and more opportunities than the Catamounts, but failed to have more goals.

Shout out to senior, LaRochelle for leading the team this season with a total of 6 goals! Men's soccer has another game this coming Monday, September 27, at Mary Baldwin University.
