Front Royal, VA- Last Saturday, Christendom defeated the Catamounts of WVU-Potomac State in a thrilling Homecoming Weekend game by a score of 3-2.

The Crusaders came out of the gate ready to play, controlling and moving the ball very well, resulting in an early goal in the 15th minute of the game by Mark LaRochelle(Senior/Napa, CA) on a shot perfectly placed in the top-right corner of the net from outside the 18-yard box. Freshman John Paul Tsakanikas(Freshman/Front Royal, VA) had the assist on the opening goal. In the 37th minute, LaRochelle struck again on a solo goal on a beautiful shot from about 30 yards out, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 lead. Coming off the momentum of the incredible goal, the Crusaders scored yet again no more than three minutes later with a strike from Aganze Nkere(Senior/Baltimore, MD) assisted by Santiago Pardo Gasque(Senior/Mexico City, MX). The Catamounts would respond with a goal before the half, making the score 3-1 going into the half.

The second half was much more of a defensive effort from both sides. The Crusaders were unable to convert on some early opportunities, as well as the Catamounts. In the 63rd minute of the game, the Catamounts scored, making the score 3-2 in favor of the Crusaders. WVU-Potomac State remained on the attack, but some great play in the back line allowed the Crusaders to close out the game and come out with the victory.

The Crusaders play McDaniel College next on Tuesday, October 4, looking to gain another home win.
