Lady Crusaders Crush Northern Virginia

The Lady Crusaders defeated Northern Virginia Community College 27-4 in 5 innings on Friday afternoon. Christendom's offense was hot and put together 21 hits in their 35 total at bats. Sophie Adams was 5-5 including 2 doubles, a triple, and a grand slam; contributing 5 of the 27 RBIs. Sofia Skuba and Sarah Smith both homered in the game as well. Becca Byrne pitched 3 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. Sophie Adams closed the game for Byrne allowing another 2 runs. NOVA's offense was only able to muster 7 hits all game.

In the second game of the double-header, Christendom took another victory against NOVA. The Lady Crusaders had 19 hits in the game, 8 stolen bases, and 9 players contributing RBIs. Guilianna Hudson and Mary-Grace Handy both went 3-3 at the plate, bringing in 5 RBIs collectively. Handy homered in the top of the second bringing the score to 8-1. Becca Byrne was tough on the mound and pitched all 5 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run. The defense behind Byrne played solid softball too; gathering ground balls and making throws to get the runners out and snagging balls out of the air to eliminate possible base runners.

The Lady Crusaders look to continue their hot play and extend their win streak when they host the tough Washington Adventist University team on Sunday afternoon.
