Handy and Adams Named USCAA All-Americans

Handy and Adams Named USCAA All-Americans

The USCAA named two Christendom students to their All-American softball team this past week, making Christendom one of only a handful of schools to have more than one student selected this year.

Rising seniors Sophie Adams and Mary-Grace Handy were both chosen by the USCAA for the honor. The All-American award is given out only to players voted on by all of the USCAA's coaches, making the accomplishment even more notable.

Adams was named to the All-American First Team, one of only fifteen selected for the highest ranking. Looking at her season stats, it's no surprise to see her honored in such a way. Adams was 3rd in the USCAA in batting average, hitting an astounding .574 for the season. She was 1st in on base percentage with .639, 5th in triples with 5, and 6th in slugging percentage with a .934 average. Adams also performed exceptionally well as a pitcher, ranking 3rd in the league with 7.45 strikeouts thrown per game.

Handy was named as an Honorable Mention for the All-American team. Handy tore up the diamond this season, ranking 3rd in triples with 6 and 8th in stolen bases with 17. She also ranked 17th in batting average with .485, 11th in slugging with .853, and converted 5 double plays on the year.
