Softball Plays First Games in 3 Years

Front Royal, VA- Crusader Softball took to the field this past Sunday, 3/20 for their first games in three years. The team fell twice to their opponents, the Raptors of Montgomery College.

Although the Crusaders lost both games by significant margins the team did have several bright spots. In Game 1 the middle of the Crusaders lineup came up with two big hits. Three batter M.T. Coyne (Junior/Cleveland, OH) singled, followed up by an Amelia Coleman (Sophomore/Elm Grove, WI) double, plating Coyne for the Crusaders first run of the season.

In Game 2 the Crusaders were able to put together an exciting 3 run second inning. Lizzie Scarchilli (Freshman/Sterling Heights, MI) walked to start the inning. After Scarchilli the Raptors retired the next two batters. However, the Crusaders put together a 2-out rally. Angelina Fedoryka (Sophomore/Front Royal, VA) drew walk to put two runners on, then Elizabeth Speer (Sophomore/Sarver, PA) hit a sharp groundball back to the pitcher and reached on an error, Scarchilli scored on the error. With two on and 2-outs, Coyne smoked a 2 RBI single to right field, giving the Crusaders a 3-run inning.
