Lady Crusaders Pick Up Seventh Win Vs Hawks

Front Royal, VA- The Lady Crusaders defeated The College of Southern Maryland Hawks this past Saturday, by a score of 60-40.

The Crusaders, after falling behind 3-0, came back to take the lead, on two-point jumpers from Agnes Wingate (Sophomore/ Huntly, VA) and Catherine Thomas (Freshman/ Portland, TX).  Thomas then went on to score the team's next eight points, giving her 10 points with only nine minutes played.  With Thomas leading the way, The Crusaders offense kept rolling throughout the half. The team was able to build a significant 33-16 lead before the buzzer.

The second half brought more of the same for the Crusaders' strong offense, as the shots kept falling.  Annie McGraw (Senior/ Manassas, VA) hit a three-point shot to open the half and just seconds later Wingate finished a fastbreak layup, making the game 40-17. Mid-way through the second half the Hawks' offense started to click. The team registered 24 points in the second half; however, they were unable to slow the Crusaders down. As time expired the Crusaders lead 60-40, giving the team its seventh win of the season.

The Crusaders' offensive effort was led by a several players; McGraw, and Point Guard Regina Bonvissuto (Freshman/ Kingston Spring, TN) both registered an impressive six assists on the game, while scoring a combined 12 points, Miranda Keller (Freshman/ Harrisburg, PA) finished with a strong 18 points and 11 rebounds, Thomas led all scorers with 26 points, while also logging 21 rebounds and six blocks.

With the win the team advances to 7-3 on the year.
