Crusaders Defeat Knights 58-48 in Final Home Game

Front Royal, VA – Christendom Crusader Women's Basketball came out on top 58-48 in a close game against the Central Penn Knights in their final home game on Thursday, February 23rd.

In the first half, the Crusaders and the Knights fought to control the game. The Crusaders rose to meet their opponent, playing with elevated aggression and impressive chemistry. Christendom's captain Kate Walz (Senior/Baltimore, MD) led the team both at the basket and in intensity. Early in the first quarter, Walz drained a three to give the Crusaders the lead over the Knights. In the second quarter, the Crusaders worked hard to maintain the lead with great offensive and defensive efforts. Catherine Thomas (Sophomore/Corpus Christi, TX) was a key player on defense, while Regina Bonvissuto (Sophomore/Kingston Springs, TN) contributed greatly to the team's offensive game. The first half ended with the Crusaders barely ahead of the Knights 30-28.

Throughout the second half of the match, the team began to take control of the game. Bridget McCaughey (Sophomore/Nashville, TN) had an impressive half with multiples steals, creating many opportunities on offense. The ladies' aggressive defense helped them extend the lead in the second half. Miranda Keller (Sophomore/Harrisburg, PA) was a major asset to Christendom's effective defense, as she finished with 2 steals, a block and 10 defensive rebounds. The Crusaders as a team played an impressive game and after a tough fight, the team was victorious over the Knights 58-48.

Thomas had an impressive game both offensively and defensively, leading the team with 22 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. Bonvissuto also played a major role in the victory, with 14 points. With 10 points, 14 rebounds and 2 steals in the game, Keller was also a great asset in Thursday's game.
