Catherine Thomas Scores 1,000 Career Point in Big Win

Front Royal, VA  Christendom Crusader Women's Basketball dominated the Appalachian Bible Warriors 104-27 on Saturday in their home opener.

The Crusaders came out strong from the start of the first quarter, displaying impressive chemistry on offense. Freshman Mary Pennefather (Freshman/ Manassas, VA) added to the team's lead sinking multiple shots from behind the three-line. With 4:51 left in the first quarter Catherine Thomas (Junior/ Corpus Christi, TX) drilled a midrange in the paint to score her 1,000 career point. Watch the clip of Thomas' 1,000pt here. With the start of the second quarter, Christendom maintained their aggression, leaving no room for their competition to succeed. Off a great play by Bridget McCaughey (Junior/ Nashville, TN), Julia Dejak (Freshman/ Front Royal, VA) added to the Crusader's lead with a layup. Dejak also made an impressive field goal, further securing the team's success in the first half. The score of the first half was 63-13.

As the second half played out, the Crusaders defense shined, keeping the Warriors to only 14 points in the third and fourth quarters combined. Christendom's offense did not lose steam, and with a shot from McCaughey, they extended their lead 73-16. The fourth quarter brought similar results from the Crusader's offense, with the help of Thomas' impressive field-goals. The Warriors were unable to overcome the dominant play of the Crusaders. The final score was 104-27; the Crusaders victorious. The Crusaders had an impressive number of rebounds with 41. Both Pennefather and Thomas dominated the court finishing with 36 and 35 points in the game.

This game marked a historical moment for Crusader's Catherine Thomas as she hit and exceeded a total of 1,000 college-career points. Thomas is a major part of Christendom Women's Basketball, and always brings an elevated level of play to the court.
