Lady Crusaders Conclude Regular Season with Big Win over Sentinels

Front Royal, VA ­– Christendom Crusaders women's basketball (22-5) ended their regular season with a dominant 96-29 victory over the Patrick Henry College Sentinels.

The Crusaders came out strong in the first quarter, beginning the game with a bucket from Regina Bonvissuto (Junior/Kingston Springs, TN) off the opening tip. Bonvissuto then stole the ball from the Sentinels, and Christendom quickly scored again with a jumper by Catherine Thomas (Junior/Portland, TX). From there, the Crusader offense took off, and they dominated both sides of the court to end the quarter up 24-0.

The Crusaders continued to click in the second quarter, scoring on a jump shot by Thomas on their first possession, and a layup by Mary Pennefather (Freshman/Manassas, VA) on their second. Christendom's defense remained very strong, limiting the Sentinels to 6 points in the second, and the Crusaders went into halftime up 52-6.

Christendom continued to dominate in the second half.  The Sentinel offense found a bit of rhythm, scoring 11 points in the third quarter and 12 points in the fourth quarter, but could not overcome the Crusader lead.  Christendom put up 44 points in the second half to earn the 96-29 victory.

Pennefather led the Crusaders in scoring, notching a double-double of 30 points, 11 rebounds, while also adding 8 assists. Thomas ended with a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Bonvissuto notched 11 points and 7 assists. Elizabeth Heisler (Freshman/Front Royal, VA) also provided a spark for the Crusaders with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
