Christendom Women’s Basketball Punches Ticket for USCAA National Championship Tournament

For the second year in a row, Christendom Women's Basketball is headed to the USCAA National Championship Tournament. The team, coming off one of the best seasons in program history, earned their second trip to the USCAA DII National Championship Tournament, as announced by the organization on Monday, March 4. They will travel to Petersburg, Virginia, for the tournament on March 9, aiming for a shot at the National Championship game.

The women's basketball team went an incredible 23-5 during the regular season, which included only losing one game in their final month of the season. Catherine Thomas and Mary Pennefather led the USCAA in points per game, with 27.3 and 24.6 ppg respectively, and total points scored, with 601 and 566 respectively. Thomas was also third in the USCAA in rebounds per game, while Pennefather was third in 3PT percentage and first in assists.

Both phenoms helped lead the team to their historic regular season record, which included a flourish at the end: a Conference Championship win, securing the team their first Conference Championship in program history.

The team will arrive in Petersburg, Virginia, following Mass on Saturday, March 9, to begin preparing for their second National Championship run. Games will begin on the morning of Sunday, March 10, with games played each day leading up to the National Championship game. Christendom will face stiff competition along the way, with their opponents to be announced shortly.

The team is currently looking to raise $5000 in funds for the tournament. To support the team's National Championship run, visit here.
