Frederick, MD – Christendom Women's Soccer Team was victorious over the Frederick Community College Cougars in their Fall 2022 season opener. After controlling the majority of the match, the Crusaders secured their first win 3-0.

The Crusaders started the game off strong. After an early dogfight, the Crusaders took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal by Catherine Thomas (Sophomore/Corpus Christi, TX), assisted by Mary Sabados (Sophomore/Pittsburgh, PA). The Cougars fought hard but were unsuccessful in a push to tie the game. And a goal from Megan Lovar (Freshman/Odenton, MD) assisted by Margaret Stahl (Sophomore/Linden, VA), gave the Crusaders a 2-0 lead. They were able to hold off the Cougars to maintain the shutout at the end of the first half.

As the two teams continued to battle in the season opener, the score remained the same for the beginning of the second half. Despite the heat, the Crusaders did not settle for their lead of only two goals. Thomas, assisted by Lovar, again placed the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-0. Christendom continued to control the middle of the field throughout the second half. Thanks to the help of the keepers Miranda Keller (Sophomore/Harrisburg, PA) and Georgia Francis (Sophomore/Front Royal, VA), Christendom held the Cougars to a 3-0 shutout.

Up Next: The Crusaders travel away to scrimmage Penn State Mont Alto on Monday, August 29th at 6:00pm.
