Crusaders Fall to Mary Baldwin in Second Game of Season

Staunton, VA – After a hard-fought game, Christendom Women's Soccer Team fell to Mary Baldwin University in their second game of the season with a 3-1 loss.

The Fighting Squirrels came on top first with a goal by the 19th minute. The Crusaders picked up their game in the second part of the first half. Crusader's goalie, Miranda Keller (Sophomore/Harrisburg, PA), held the Fighting Squirrels with 6 saves in the first half. The Crusaders brought a strong passing game towards the end of the half, but the score remained 1-0.

Both teams brought aggression in the second half. The Fighting Squirrels remained on top until the Crusaders received a penalty kick before the 75th minute. The kick was made by Crusaders' Catherine Thomas (Sophomore/Corpus Christi, TX), who placed it neatly in the left corner of the net. For the majority of the second half, the score remained 1-1 with a strong fight from both teams. With less than 5 minutes remaining, the Fighting Squirrels put two more goals in the back of the net to make the final score 3-1.
