Women’s Soccer Falls to Washington Adventist Shock

Takoma Park, MD – The Crusaders traveled to take on the Washington Adventist Shock on September 20, falling 1-0 for their second loss of the season.

Both teams began the game with intensity, and the match was scoreless through the first half. Although it was 0-0 at the half there was no lack of excitement. Both teams had scoring opportunities, but the solid defensive play of the Crusader back line and goalkeeper, Maria Blank (Freshman/Woodbridge, VA), kept the Shock from capitalizing.

During the second half, the game continued at a fast pace, with both teams having good chances to score. The teams played physically, with two Adventist players picking up yellow cards. Both the back line continued to play strong, and the Crusaders had shots on goal throughout the second half.  However, the Shock were able to score with 9 minutes remaining. The Crusaders kept attacking until the end of the game, but were unable to score, and the match ended 1-0 in the Shock's favor.
