Lady Crusaders Go Two For Three in CCBC Quad-Match

The Lady Crusaders volleyball team headed to Baltimore, Maryland to play in a quad-match hosted by CCBC Essex on September 10.  In the team's first game, the Lady Crusaders took on Cecil College.  After losing their first set, the Lady Crusaders stormed back to win the next three sets sealing their victory over Cecil 3-1.

Their next opponent, Del Tech, was a well matched team who gave the Lady Crusaders a tough game.  Freshman middle blocker Michaela Pennefather did an excellent job dominating at the net. After a long fought four games, Sophomores Georgie Messing and Helena Briggs had exceptional serves which helped the Crusaders with the fourth set, leading to the decisive fifth set.  In a back-and-forth fifth set, Del Tech won the set and ultimately won the well fought game.

The Lady Crusaders jumped straight into the next match against the Essex Knights.  Losing the first two sets 18-25 and 11-25, the Lady Crusaders refused let the game end in the third set.  The Crusaders brought their energy up significantly which helped fuel excellent saves and kills.  They won the last sets 25-15, 25-16, and 15-13.  The Lady Crusaders had put their all into the impressive turnaround of the last game.

Exhausted after playing a total of 14 sets in the quad-match, which came out to be about six hours of volleyball, the Lady Crusaders were victorious in two of their three matches.

The Lady Crusaders next host Appalachian Bible College and Lord Fairfax Community College on September 17 at Crusader Gymnasium at 12noon and 4pm.  Come cheer on the Lady Crusaders!
