Lady Crusaders Going To National Championship

Lady Crusaders Going To National Championship

Christendom's Lady Crusader volleyball team is heading to the USCAA DII National Championship in Virginia Beach from November 8-10. Earning a berth for the first time in school history, the Lady Crusaders will compete as the #3 seed in the championship after a stellar 2018 season.

As the #3 seed in the tournament, the Lady Crusaders will compete in Pool B of the tournament, first taking on #2 seed Johnson and Wales on Thursday, November 8, at 3:30 p.m. On Friday, they will play #6 Penn State Dubois at 11:30 a.m., and the rest of their schedule will be determined based on their performance in the tournament.

The Lady Crusaders performance this season went above and beyond expectations. The team finished 16-8 on the season, including a 13-game winning streak which also saw Christendom win the CCBC Essex Tournament. They were ranked as high as #2 in the nation during this stretch, cementing their reputation as the most dominant volleyball team in school history.

Senior Michaela Pennefather finished the season as 5th in the nation in kills, 6th in total attacks, eight in hitting percentage, and seventh in blocks — all statistics that will make her a force to be reckoned with in Virginia Beach. She will be supported by setter Gemma McMahon, who finished 5th in the nation with 522 assists, and who also took USCAA Player of the Week honors during the season.

All games from the National Championship will be viewable on the USCAA Fall Championship Week website, along with live statistics as well. The games can be watched here.
