Christendom Athletes Named Top Players by USCAA, CCRC

Christendom's student-athletes were awarded top honors by the USCAA at their annual awards banquet on November 8, with two athletes awarded the organization's prestigious Student-Athlete of the Year awards, while numerous others named to the organization's All-American teams. In addition, the Cardinals Collegiate Rugby Conference named six Crusaders to their All-Conference teams, making this fall one of the most awards-decorated in school history.

Athletes from all five of Christendom's fall USCAA teams were given awards at the banquet, with Mary Margaret Heisler and Emily Farabaugh taking the top honors as Student-Athletes of the Year for women's volleyball and women's cross-country respectively. This marks the second consecutive semester that a Christendom athlete has received this prestigious honor from the USCAA, after Helena Briggs won the award last spring.

After a tremendous season that saw him set a new school record for goals, Pete Day was named to 1st Team All-American for men's soccer, while James Foeckler was named to 2nd Team All-American. On the women's side, Gemma Youngman was named to 1st Team All-American, while Anna Solitario and Annie McGraw were both named to 2nd Team All-American.

From the Lady Crusaders volleyball team, currently in the USCAA DII National Championship playoffs, Gemma McMahon and Michaela Pennefather were named as 1st Team All-Americans, while Celina Albisu was named Coaches Pick.

The Crusader rugby team, after winning the Cardinals Collegiate Rugby Conference and earning a spot in the NSCRO 15s National Championship playoffs, saw three players named to the CCRC's 1st Team All-Conference — Tim Marra, Vincent Duhig, and Nicholas Cuddeback. Three more players were named to the 2nd Team All-Conference, with John Briggs, Nicodemus Kaufman, and Patrick Newton all earning this honor for the first time.

In addition, the USCAA named 20 Christendom athletes Academic All-Americans, more than any other school in the USCAA.
