Pennefather, Thomas Gain VaSID All-State Recognition
Ashland, VA- Mary Pennefather and Catherine Thomas have been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Women?s Basketball Division III All-State Second Team. This recognition marks a crowning achievement following Christendom?s historic season with a 27-5 record, culminating in the USCAA DII National Championship win. This recognition solidifies Pennefather and Thomas as two of the top collegiate basketball players in the state at the Division III level.

This recognition solidifies Pennefather and Thomas as two of the top collegiate basketball players in the state at the Division III level.
Mary Pennefather, a standout player throughout the season, showcased her versatility and skill on the court. Averaging an impressive 23.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game, Pennefather not only led her team to victory but also garnered individual accolades, including the ESAC Player of the Year award. Her consistent performance earned her a well-deserved selection as a USCAA First Team All-American. She was also named to the USCAA All-Tournament Team, with a 33 point performance against Penn State Shenango in the first round, and a 25 point performance against Central Maine in the semi-final.
Catherine Thomas, equally instrumental in Christendom's championship journey, displayed exceptional athleticism and determination throughout the season. With impressive averages of 26.4 points and 14.3 rebounds per game, Thomas dominated both ends of the court, contributing significantly to her team's success. Her outstanding performance earned her recognition on the ESAC 1st Team and a place alongside Pennefather on the USCAA First Team All-American list. This included a performance against Penn State Beaver in the quarterfinals, in which Thomas set single-game records in the USCAA Basketball Tournament for points (46) and three-pointers made (7). She was named Tournament MVP after winning the national championship for her outstanding play throughout the whole tournament.
