Christendom College to Host Annual Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Golf Tournament on October 13
Christendom College will welcome alumni and friends back to the Shenandoah Valley this fall for the sixteenth annual Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Golf Tournament, set for Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, Virginia.
The tournament raises funds for the Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Scholarship, which supports Christendom student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athleticism, and character. Last year's tournament raised over $30,000 in scholarship support, continuing a legacy of generosity that has helped numerous students pursue a Christendom education.
The day will begin with check-in at 9:00 a.m., followed by time on the driving range and practice green at the highly rated Shenandoah Valley Golf Club — named one of the best courses in Virginia by Golf Digest. Following an opening prayer at 11:00 a.m., tournament play will commence, offering participants the chance to compete for prizes while enjoying the beautiful fall landscape.
In the evening, players will gather for a reception and dinner, where this year's 2025–26 scholarship recipients will be introduced and celebrated.
The tournament and scholarship honor the memory of Thomas S. Vander Woude, Christendom's former athletic director, who gave his life to save his son. Vander Woude is remembered not just for his heroic death, but for the character he showed as a father, husband, and devout Catholic.
