
Bryant & Stratton-Cleveland 76, Mont Alto 73 (OT)
Monaca, Pa.- Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball traveled to Penn State Beaver on Friday and Saturday to participate in the Beaver Holiday Tournament. Mont Alto dropped the opener to Bryant & Stratton-Cleveland in overtime by a final score of 76-73.
Taralle Hayden led all Mont Alto scorers with 16 points in 27 minutes of action off the bench. Bryson Fleming chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds to go along with four steals. Caleb Eckert scored 15 and gathered six boards.
Tareeq Roper made some clutch shots down the stretch for the Bobcats, scoring a team-high 16 on 5 of 8 shooting. Greg Thurman added 14 points in 40 minutes of action.
Mont Alto was down most of the second half until Jonathan Pang connected on a three pointer with 2:32 left, tying the score at 58-58. Mont Alto would extend their advantage to 62-58 in the following minute.
Roper made back-to-back shots to tie the game at 62-62 with 0:33 remaining. Thurman was the leading scorer in OT for the Bobcats with five points as B&S went on to win 76-73.
Mont Alto 64, Christendom 46
Monaca, Pa.- Mont Alto was back in action on Saturday at 1pm with a familiar non-conference matchup against Christendom. The Mont Alto defensive intensity stuck from the opening tip, holding the Crusaders to 17 points and 25% shooting in the opening half. Veron Talla led Mont Alto at the half with nine points as Mont Alto led after one half 28-17. Caleb Eckert was an efficient 4 for 5 in the second half with nine points in the frame.
Veron Talla (16) and Caleb Eckert (13) were the leading scorers for Mont Alto and Daniel Schultz paced the Christendom offense with 15 points.
