Crusaders Complete Sweep of College of Faith in Close Game

In the nightcap of the doubleheader with College of Faith, the Crusaders battled in a back and forth game and held on the win 9-8. Stephen Buonocore started on the mound for the Crusaders and went three innings and allowed four runs (three earned) and had one strike out. The Crusaders offense broke out with six runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead. In the fourth inning, the Crusaders brought in Michael Mersch to take over on the mound. He allowed a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, and two runs in the fifth and College of Faith took back the lead 7-6. On a wild pitch and a two run single by Matt Luca in the top of 7 th , the Crusaders offense scored three runs to take the lead again 9-7.


Once again, the Crusaders made a pitching change and brought in Caleb Wilson to close the game. He allowed one run in the 7 th and in the last play of the game, College of Faith's Isaac Iscra attempted to steal home to tie up the game. Caleb Wilson fired a perfect pitch to the catcher, Josh Wilson, who blocked the plate and recorded the last out to hold onto the win for the Crusaders.


Caleb Wilson continued his strong season at the plate with three hits, two runs, and a RBI. Ian Heisler also added two hits, two runs, and a RBI to help lead the Crusaders offense. The Crusaders completed the sweep of the two game series against College of Faith in the second of three stops on their spring break road trip.
