Crusaders Explode for 20 Runs vs Williamson

Media, PA – Christendom baseball (4-11) split a double header against conference opponent the Williamson Trade Mechanics (10-4) on April 13th, 2024.

Game 1- The Crusaders got on the board early, as they plated two first inning runs off the bat of Matt O'Hara (Freshman/Hershey, PA) to take a 2-0 lead. After a quiet second inning both teams exploded offensively in the third and fourth innings. In the top half of the third, Peter Sullivan (Sophomore/ Omaha, NE) connected on a grand slam, for his 2nd home run of the season. But the Mechanics answered right back in the bottom half, scoring 5 runs of their own. Heading into the fourth the Crusaders led the game 8-6. Christendom continued to swing it in the inning, plating 9 more runs. Thomas Sullivan (Senior/ Omaha, NE), John Skuba (Junior/ Sugarloaf, PA) and Paul Amuso (Freshman/ Bristow, VA) all contributed with hits and RBIs in the inning. With a 17-6 deficit, Williamson knocked Christendom's starter Joe Romero (Freshman/Valley Center, CA) out in the fourth inning scoring 4 runs on a double and a home run. Patrick Brezinsky (Senior/ Montrose, CO) came in from the pen and bailed the Crusaders out. He threw the rest of the game allowing just 1 hit and no earned runs. The Crusaders tacked on a few late inning runs to solidify their 20-12 victory over the Williamson Trade Mechanics.

O'Hara led the way at the plate collecting 3 hits and 6 RBIs. The Sullivan brothers combined for 5 hits and 9 RBIs.

Game 2 – Christendom's Freshman Paul Amuso got his first college start as he took the mound in game two. He gave up two early runs on a homer to left center and Williamson added another 2 runs in the third to go up 4-1. J. Romero put the Crusaders on the board in the top of the third with his 2nd homer of the season. Amuso continued to throw well on the mound for the Crusaders, but defensive blunders put Christendom in a 6-1 hole entering the fifth inning. A big inning at the plate for the Crusaders cut the deficit to just 1 run. In the sixth, the Crusaders put up another 3 runs to take a late 8-7 lead over the Mechanics. Amuso got two outs in the final inning up by a run, but Williamson blasted a ball to left center for a walk-off 3 run homer. Amuso was one out from a complete game in his first start on the mound and over his 6.2 innings, he gave up 8ER on 14 hits and struck out 7.

Romero, O'Hara and Luke Roman (Sophomore/ Lilburn, GA) all had two hits and two RBIs to lead Christendom's offense.
