Crusaders Split Double Header Against Bucks County CC

Front Royal, VA – Christendom Baseball took the first game of a double header but dropped the second against ESAC opponent Bucks County Community College on Saturday, April 20th, 2024.

Game 1 – Freshman Joseph Romero (Valley Center, CA) took the mound as the starting pitcher against Bucks County. After Romero put up a scoreless top of the first, the Crusaders put up three runs to take an early lead. Both teams went scoreless over the next inning. Bucks got on the board with a sac fly in the third inning. But Christendom responded in the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, Thomas Sullivan (Senior/ Omaha, NE) lined a double down the right field line  to add to the Crusader lead. In the same inning, Romero, and Matt O'Hara (Freshman/ Hershey, PA) knocked in another couple runs to go up 8-1.  Romero continued his dominance on the mound tossing two more scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth innings. Bucks added two late runs in the seventh, but Romero finished the game polishing off his first complete game of the season. The impressive performance earned Romero his second win of the year.

Romero also led the Crusaders offensively as he ended the game with 3-hits, 2-runs scored and 3-RBI's.

Game 2 – Freshman Paul Amuso (Bristow, VA) made his second start of the year for the Crusaders in game two. The first inning was quiet for both teams, however in the second inning the Crusaders broke through in a big way putting up a five spot in the frame. Although down 5-0, Bucks County started to comeback in the third inning, scoring three runs off Amuso and the Crusader's defense. Things got ugly for the Crusaders in the fourth, Bucks County put up a total of 8-runs in the inning, as the capitalized on multiple defense miscues by Christendom. Amuso existed the game in the fourth, with 5 hits and 5 ER. Patrick Brezinsky (Senior/ Montrose, CO) came in in relief to close out the inning. Now down 12-6, the Crusaders had no serious answer for Buck's commanding lead. They went scoreless in the final three innings, dropping the game 14-6.
