Game 1: Christendom Crusaders 8, Bucks County Centurions 10
FRONT ROYAL, Va. – The Christendom Crusaders battled but ultimately fell short in a high-scoring affair against the Bucks County Centurions in the first game of their home doubleheader on Saturday, dropping a tough 10-8 decision.
Despite struggling early and falling behind by nine runs in the fourth inning, the Crusaders mounted a determined comeback effort. Their rally was fueled by a series of productive at-bats, including runs scored on a walk, a fielder's choice, an error, a single, another error, and a double. However, the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Joe Romero took the mound for the Crusaders, pitching three and one-third innings while allowing six hits and ten runs—though only six were earned. Romero also recorded two strikeouts but struggled with command, issuing seven walks.
Offensively, George Storey provided a key contribution from the ninth spot in the lineup, driving in three runs while going 1-for-4 at the plate. Rowland Thornberry led the Crusaders in hits, finishing 2-for-4. The defense turned one double play in the contest, providing a brief highlight in an otherwise challenging outing.
Game 2: Christendom Crusaders 5, Bucks County Centurions 10
The Crusaders looked to bounce back in Game 2 but were once again unable to overcome the offensive firepower of Bucks County, falling 10-5 on Monday.
Christendom took an early lead in the second inning thanks to an RBI single from Edmund Thomas and a costly error by the Centurions. Gus Coleman helped keep the game close, tying it at four in the fourth inning with a double down the right-field line.
Coleman also got the starting nod on the mound, working six innings while surrendering 13 hits and 10 runs (nine earned). He struck out two and issued five walks in a tough outing against a relentless Centurion offense.
At the plate, Thomas, Coleman, and Peter Sullivan each recorded two hits to pace the Crusaders' offense. Coleman also led the team in RBIs with two, finishing 2-for-4. On the base paths, Christendom made things interesting by swiping three stolen bases, showing their aggressive approach despite the final scoreline.
With the two losses, Christendom falls to 9-8 on the season and will look to regroup before their next matchup. The Crusaders will aim to tighten up defensively and build upon their offensive resilience as they prepare for upcoming competition.
