Front Royal, VA - Christendom Crusaders Men's Basketball Team played a tough game on Monday, February 10, against the Frederick Community College Cougars but were outscored 73-53.
The game began at a slow pace, with the Crusaders putting up their first bucket three minutes into the match. Christendom steadily maintained the lead and eventually created a 10-point cushion off a three-pointer from Michael Vander Woude (Freshman/ Nokesville, VA). Regardless of the Crusaders impressive lead, the Cougars began to come back in the eleventh minute, and four minutes later, they passed the Crusaders on the scoreboard. Christendom was unable to return to their earlier style of play, and Frederick pulled away by over 10 points. Halftime came with the Crusaders still trailing.
The second half brought another chance for the Crusaders to recapture control of the game. Christendom began to close the gap in the score thanks to Daniel Schultz's (Sophomore/ Fredericksburg, TX) effort in front of the net. Unfortunately, although the Crusaders continued to work on their game, the Cougars also simultaneously added to their score. Due to their lack of numbers, Frederick continued to outplay the Crusaders on the court. Bobby Vander Woude (Junior/ Nokesville, VA) put up the final points for the Crusaders as the final horn sounded and the game came to an end with Christendom falling 53-73.
With only a handful of games remaining, the Crusaders hope to push through their injuries and finish the season strong.
Next Up: The Crusaders have an exciting match away on Wednesday, February 12, at 8pm against division and conference rival Central Penn.
