Staunton, Va.- Christendom fell on the road at Mary Baldwin on Tuesday night, 82–53, as the host Fighting Squirrels used a fast start and sustained offensive pressure to pull away early. MBU built a 49–28 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and strong transition play, putting the Crusaders in a difficult position from which to recover.
Despite the deficit, Christendom continued to compete behind standout performances from Daniel Schultz and John Fowler. Schultz was a steady force inside all night, scoring 16 points while grabbing a team-high 9 rebounds, battling on both ends to keep the Crusaders within striking distance. Fowler provided the spark from the perimeter, connecting on four three-pointers and finishing with 14 points as he worked to ignite the offense in the second half.
Christendom showed improved ball movement and defensive stretches after the break, but the early margin proved too much to overcome as Mary Baldwin maintained control on their home floor. The Crusaders will look to build on the individual bright spots as they continue their early-season schedule.
Up Next: Christendom takes on NCAA DI Opponent VMI on Friday, December 5.
