Crusaders Dominate Sentinels on Senior Night
Front Royal, Va.- Christendom Men's Basketball celebrated Senior Night in dominant fashion, defeating Patrick Henry College 86–57 at home in a complete performance on both ends of the floor. The Crusaders used a massive first-half run to seize control and never looked back, carrying a 54–30 lead into halftime before extending the margin to as many as 33 in the second half.
The opening five minutes were tightly contested, with the game tied 9–9 early. From there, Christendom began to separate itself, tightening defensively and finding rhythm offensively. The lead grew to double digits midway through the half before the Crusaders closed the final stretch on a commanding 20–6 run to take full control heading into the break.
The second half followed a similar script, as Christendom continued to push the pace and share the basketball. Michael Vander Woude caught fire after halftime, knocking down four consecutive three-pointers to help stretch the lead to 33. That proved to be the high-water mark before the Crusaders turned to their bench for the final four minutes to close out the Senior Night victory.
It was a balanced offensive effort, with five Crusaders finishing in double figures. Luke Vander Woude led the way with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, adding five rebounds and three assists. John Fowler contributed 17 points while knocking down two triples and recording three steals. Bobby Vander Woude added 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists in an efficient all-around performance. Off the bench, Michael Vander Woude scored 15 points, connecting on four three-pointers, while Daniel Schultz provided 12 points and seven rebounds in just 22 minutes of action.
Christendom's dominance showed up across the stat sheet. The Crusaders assisted on 18 field goals, forced 12 steals, and controlled transition play with a 21–2 advantage in fast-break points. The ball movement and defensive pressure created separation early and prevented any sustained push from the Sentinels.
