Crusaders Drop Tough Game at Home

Front Royal, VA - The Christendom Crusader Rugby team fell to UVA 31-25 in a home match on September 21.
As the game began, the Crusaders struck first 5-0, with a try scored by Hugh Miller (Sophomore/Libson, OH). The Cavaliers fired back with two tries with one conversion kick made to take a 12-5 lead over the Crusaders. The Crusaders proceeded to answer with three straight tries from Ben O'Brien (Junior/Pepperell, MA), Will Kolesar (Senior/Cranberry, PA), and Jude Burkett (Senior/Emlenton, PA), with a conversion kick made on the third by Chris Santschi (Junior/ Manassas, VA). This burst of scoring gave the Crusaders a 22-12 lead going into the half.
In the second half, the Cavaliers took over the game, going on a 19-0 Scoring run to give them a 31-22 lead for the second half. A penalty kick from Santschi cut the lead to one score leading into the final stretch of the game. The Crusaders were unable to put a try in, though, resulting in a tough 31-25 loss.
Up Next: The Christendom College Rugby team will play at Hampden Sydney College on Saturday.
