Crusaders Beat Washington Adventist for the First Time in Christendom History

In their second to last game of the season, the Crusaders faced Washington Adventist University. Having never beaten WAU, the Crusaders stepped onto the field determined to change history.

Early in the first half, striker James Miller injected energy and focus into the Crusader team with a spectacular one touch finish off a pinpoint pass from fellow striker James Salmon. With a solid defensive performance and some impressive saves by keeper Richard Blank, the Crusaders headed into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

At halftime, senior captain Pat Audino reminded the team of the opportunity at hand: to be the first to beat WAU. The Crusaders and WAU brought effort, intensity and passion to the second half. Twenty minutes in, WAU scored the tying goal. Both teams battled to take the lead and the score remained tied until Stephen Foeckler scored (77') to put the Crusaders back on top. Three minutes later Foeckler scored again (80'). Finally, with six minutes left, freshmen Pete Day nailed the coffin with bullet finish from the right wing (84').

Energized by their 4-1 finish, the Crusaders (9-1-2 on the season) head to West Virginia Tech for their final game of the season.
