Christendom Crusaders Acquire 4-0 Shutout During Homecoming Game

On Saturday, October 10th, Christendom College hosted Patrick Henry College for their second annual homecoming game. During the last meeting between these two teams earlier this season, Patrick Henry scored twice before the Crusaders were able to come back and end with a 4-2 win. This time the Crusaders were looking for a shutout win to impress the homecoming crowd. The Crusaders took their first lead of the game in the 12th minute coming with a through ball from James Miller to freshman Peter Day. In the 27th minute of the game, the Crusaders put another ball into the back of the net, but it came from sophomore James Miller. The Crusaders went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Opening the second half, the Crusaders were eager to maintain their lead as well as boost it with a few additional goals.  James Miller found some space on the left wing just as center midfielder Patrick Mcneely sent a through ball between the two defenders and directly to Millers feet. Miller approached the goal and found himself alone with the goalie. For his second goal of the game, he passed the ball around the goalie and into the back of the net. This gave Christendom a 3-0 lead. To add to this already impressive lead, James Salmon intercepted a pass from a Patrick Henry defender, and took a few dribbles towards the goal.  As the goalie came off his line towards the ball, James chipped the ball right around him and into the net. The Crusaders won their second homecoming game 4-0.

The next Christendom College game is at Crusader Fields on Monday October 12th against University of Maine-Fort Kent.
