Another Game, Another Victory

Another Game, Another Victory

Today September 4th, the Crusaders Men’s soccer team played Berkeley New Jersey College in their second home game of the season.  In the first 10 minutes of the game, they had great ball control. Coming within the first 15 minutes, Senior Sean Salmon had a pinpoint pass through the defenders to connect with James Miller who chipped the ball over the rushing keeper and into the back of the net. This goal gave him his 4th of the season. The Crusaders maintained a 1-0 lead through the end of the first half.

Starting the second half, the game became even more intense because Berkeley NJ needed two goals to defeat the Crusaders. It was a tough defensive half which was led by Senior Jeremy Minick and Sophomore Nicholas Santschi. Late into the second half, the Crusaders had chances from Peter Day and James Salmon who had passes coming from both Stephen Foeckler and Patrick McNeely.

After a poorly taken free kick by Berkeley NJ, the ball fell to Sean Salmon who passed the ball up the field to Peter Day who only needed to beat his defender. The race was on. Peter Day beat the defender and the goalie to score in the last 5 minutes of the game, giving the Christendom College Crusaders a 2-0 victory.

The next Crusaders Men’s Soccer game is Monday September 5 at Central Penn  College.
