Crusaders Start Season With Win Over Berkeley-New Jersey

FRONT ROYAL, VA - The Crusaders started their season off with a hard-fought win against the Berkeley-New Jersey Bulldogs.

Christendom got on the board early, with Sophomore Joe O'Reilly scoring in the 9th minute off of a pass from Freshman Nicholas Foeckler. Berkeley responded in the 16th minute, tying the game at 1, but that score didn't last long. Before the 16th minute was out, Freshman Mark LaRochelle arced a shot into the top-left corner, making the score 2-1, where it would remain for the rest of the game.

The rest of the game was a back-and-forth defensive battle, resulting in a total of 27 shots, 14 on goal. Junior Goalkeeper Carlos Pardo Gasque showed himself to be up to the challenge, racking up 6 saves over the course of the game.

The Crusaders return to the field on Saturday, September 8th, where they will take on Shaw University.
