Crusader Fall in Hard Fought Final Game

Front Royal, VA – On October 31st, Christendom College Men's Soccer Team fell 4-2 in a tough match against the Regent University Royals.

The Crusaders had an impressive first half, dominating the field. Within the first ten minutes of the game, Michael Townsend (Junior/ Front Royal, VA) placed the ball in the back of the net. Townsend's goal gave the Crusaders the first lead of the game at 1-0. Christendom continued to control the game, holding on to the lead. In the 19th minute, the Crusaders took a two-goal lead with a strike from Charlie Ackla (Freshman/ Gainesville, VA). The Royals were unable to respond to the Crusader's intensity, and the first half came to close with the Crusaders over the Royals 2-0.

Although Christendom played an impressive first half, they were unable to hold onto their lead as the second half progressed. The Royals were able to take possession of the field and put in four consecutive goals, without a response from the Crusaders. The Crusaders continued to play aggressively but could not keep possession or control the pace of play. The game ended with a final score of 4-2, the Royals defeating the Crusaders.

Christendom College Men's Soccer Team was honored to celebrate Aidan Oakley (Senior/ Irvine, CA) during their senior night on the last game of the season. Oakly had an impressive year, and truly fulfilled the leading role of a senior.
