Crusaders Record Clean Sheet in Victory

Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Crusaders defeated the Penn State Mont Alto Nittany Lions on Wednesday, shutting them out 4-0.
The beginning of the game brought aggression from both teams setting the play of the first half. Fighting for the lead, the Crusaders were determined to shift the momentum of the game in their favor. Off a play from Hugh McCloskey (Freshman/ Lincoln, NE), Midfielder Tim Sheedy (Freshman/ Warrenton, VA) found the back of the net, giving the Crusaders a necessary push to control the game. For the remainder of the first half, Christendom kept possession keeping Penn State from finishing on their attack.
Coming into the second half with confidence and a 1-0 lead, the Crusaders continued to dominate on the field. The Nittany Lions could not contain the momentum of Christendom, and the Crusaders put in two goals soon after the half began. With a pass from Francis Gulick (Sophomore/ West Milton, OH), George Storey (Sophomore/ Amissville, VA) placed the ball in Penn State's net. Minutes after, Storey again put one on net leading to a goal. This goal gave the Crusaders a decisive 3-0 lead. Christendom held off Penn State and continued to press hard on offense. They again had an impressive play with a finish from Joshua Cruz (Senior/ San Diego, CA), assisted by Justin Zappe (Freshman/ Green Township, NJ) towards the close of the match. Thanks to the work of Michael Vander Woulde as keeper, the Crusaders shut out their rival Penn State Mont Alto in an exciting 4-0 victory.
