Crusaders Fall to Apprentice
Newport News, Va.- Christendom Women's Basketball faced a tough road test on Wednesday night, falling 78–54 to a fast and physical Apprentice School squad. Despite stretches of composed play and strong individual performances, the Crusaders were unable to match Apprentice's sustained scoring runs and interior pressure.
The game opened competitively, with Christendom finding early looks and keeping pace through much of the first quarter before Apprentice closed the period ahead 19–13. The Builders seized control in the second, pushing the tempo and capitalizing on turnovers to build a 40–26 halftime lead.
Christendom continued to battle after the break, but Apprentice's athleticism and transition play created separation in the third quarter, extending the margin to 66–37 heading into the fourth. The Crusaders responded with a stronger offensive rhythm in the final frame, but the deficit proved too large to overcome as Apprentice closed out the 78–54 win.
Mary Pennefather led Christendom with 19 points, adding five rebounds and five assists while providing steady backcourt play throughout the night. Lucy Pennefather anchored the interior with an efficient 22-point, nine-rebound performance, continuing her strong early-season form.
Up Next: Despite the loss, Christendom showed resilience and stretches of disciplined execution against a tough opponent. The Crusaders will look to regroup and build toward their next matchup against Central Penn on Wednesday, Decemner 10 at 6pm in the 5th Annual Jingle Jam Games.
