The Lady Crusaders came on the field as new team against a new opponent in a new year, gaining a 4-0 victory in this battle of firsts against Penn State Mont Alto this Wednesday. Sophomore Catherine Gaetano, the leading scorer for the women's soccer team last season, scored the very first goal of the game and the season.
The momentum of this goal carried through to the whole team for a very successful game, finishing the game by adding 3 more goals to the score by Sophomore Bryn Burgess and Junior Anne Nelson. The defensive line held strong against the speed of Penn State's forwards and ended the game with a shutout.
The Lady Crusaders worked hard as a team fielding both new and returning players to pull together their first win. With this first and crucial win under their belt, the Christendom Women's Soccer team looks forward to beginning a winning streak after their game this Saturday against Sweet Briar College.
