The Lady Crusaders suffered their first home loss in over a season on Thursday night, September 22 against a talented Washington Adventist University team.

Both teams entered the game with high intensity, fighting for possession of the ball and struggling to create goal scoring opportunities.  Washington Adventist took the lead early with a goal scored off of a free kick a few feet outside the box.  Then the Lady Crusaders answered and tied the game with a goal scored by Anne Nelson on free kick outside the 18-yard box.  Washington Adventist rallied and finished off a corner kick just before halftime to bring the score 2-1 at halftime in favor or Washington Adventist.

In the second half, the Lady Crusaders came out determined, creating several goal scoring opportunities and taking several shots on goal, but great saves by their goalie, kept the ball from finding the back of the net.  On another offensive attack, Washington Adventist brought the score to 3-1 on a Penalty Kick as a result of a handball in the box.  The Lady Crusaders refused to let down and continued to take several shots on goal and keeping the counterattacks of Washington Adventist to a minimum.  Then late in the 2nd half, Emily Weichert netted a goal with a high shot find the left corner of the goal from the outside right of the 18-yard box to bring the score to 3-2.

In the final few minutes, the Lady Crusaders continued to challenge the defense and the goalie, but were unable to score again.  The score ended 3-2, and the Lady Crusaders first loss at home since the Fall 2015 season.

Their next game is at home on Saturday, September 24 vs Patrick Henry at 1pm.
