Lady Crusaders Come Close Against Johnson and Wales

The Lady Crusaders hosted Johnson and Wales College during Christendom's Homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 8th.

Due to rainfall the night before and the drizzle during the game, the field conditions affected the playing of both teams.  Both teams played very physical resulting in several slide tackles due to the slippery grass.  The first shot of the game was not taken until the 20th minute of the game when a player from Johnson and Wales attempted a shot, but was saved by Goal Keeper Madeline Hill.  A couple minutes later, Johnson and Wales fired again scored the first goal of the game.  Continuing to attack the defense, Sophomore Gemma Youngman tied the score with an amazing header off of a corner kicked placed by Senior Anne Nelson in the 26th minute.  Then in the 30th minute, Johnson and Wales countered with another goal.  The score was 2-1 at half, in favor of Johnson and Wales.

In the second half, Lady Crusaders defended very well allowing only one shot on goal.  The Lady Crusaders were able to get 3 more shots on target, but with great saves from their keeper, the Lady Crusaders could not find the back of the net.  They were disappointed with a loss 2-1, but they did not go down without a fight.
