Lady Crusaders Take Home 5-0 Win Vs Patrick Henry

Purcellville, VA- Tuesday, September 28, Women's Soccer traveled away to take on Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry had home field advantage and put up a fight against the Lady Crusaders, but the team still brought home a win to a score of 5-0.

The Crusaders came out ready for action, the team's first goal was scored within the first five minutes of the game by Christine McLaughlin(Junior/Fauquier, VA), Catherine Thomas(Freshman/Corpus Christi, TX) came up with the assist. Three minutes later and Mclaughlin buried her second goal of the game, this time the assist came from Annie McGraw(Senior/Manassas, VA). Christendom, with the 2-0 lead, worked the field from the defense through the middle and back out wide. Patience paid off, and in the twenty-eighth min. Colleen Kosten(Freshman /Warrenton, VA) scored the teams third goal, assisted by McGraw. With a score of 3-0, Patrick Henry was able to tighten their defense and keep the Crusaders from scoring for the rest of the half.

The second half was head-to-head for the first twenty mins.  Then, Thomas, who already had an assist in the first half, found the back of the net for the Crusaders fourth goal, assisted by Sofia Hudson(Junior/Manassas, VA). In the final minute of the game, McLaughlin, Crusaders leading goal scorer, ripped an amazing goal into the bottom left corner of the net, scoring the team's fifth goal, giving her a hattrick and her eleventh goal of the season.

Special Shoutout to Freshman, Georgia Francis who debuted in her first game as goalie! Georgia had a great second half making three saves!

With the win the The Lady Crusaders advance to 3-1on the season. The team's next match is a home game this Saturday,10/2, at 1:00 p.m. Make sure to come out and support our girls as they play their homecoming game against the Potomac State Catamounts!
