Pittsburgh, Pa.- The Christendom Women's Soccer Team went up to the USCAA DII Women's Soccer National Tournament, where they went 1-1 in pool play. They defeated #6 PSU Mont Alto 3-1 in the first game of pool play, but fell to #2 NHTI in the second game.
Pool Play- Game 1 – #3 Christendom 3, #6 PSU Mont Alto 1
Christendom opened USCAA National Tournament pool play with a strong 3–1 victory over PSU Mont Alto, powered by a fast start and a dominant offensive performance.
The Crusaders wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Just 1:43 into the match, Gloria Ackla created a takeaway in the attacking third and finished unassisted to put Christendom ahead 1–0. The early pressure continued, and at 15:33, Megan Lovar doubled the lead with another unassisted strike, giving the Crusaders firm control heading into halftime.
In the second half, Ackla struck again at 56:28, capitalizing on another individual effort to extend the lead to 3–0. PSU Mont Alto broke through late with a goal in the 74th minute, but the Crusaders' back line and goalkeeper Serena Kellerheld strong the rest of the way. Keller finished with 6 saves, anchoring a confident tournament-opening win.
Pool Play- Game 2 – #3 Christendom 0, #2 NHTI 1
Christendom battled hard in a defensive struggle on Sunday but came up short in a 0–1 loss to NHTI, who went on to win both pool play games and advance to the USCAA National Championship.
NHTI found the back of the net early, scoring at 6:30 of the first half. Despite the early setback, the Crusaders responded with disciplined defending for the remainder of the match, limiting additional high-quality opportunities.
Offensively, Christendom struggled to generate chances against NHTI's pressure and compact defensive shape, finishing the match with just one shot on goal. Still, the Crusaders stayed within striking distance thanks to another standout performance from Serena Keller, who recorded 10 saves to keep the team in contention throughout.
