Crusaders Avenge Loss with Big Win Against WAU
Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory 3-1 against the Washington Adventist Shock on Wednesday, October 9th.
Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory 3-1 against the Washington Adventist Shock on Wednesday, October 9th.
In the first set, the Crusaders brought confidence to the court. They dominated on offense creating a gap in the score. Thanks to the consistent blocks by the front row, Christendom took the first set 25-16. Continuing the aggression of the first set, the Crusaders were determined to take the following as well. Leading the team on offense, Lucy Stahl (Freshman/ Linden, VA) had an impressive total of 21 points in the match, bringing the team to victory in the second set 25-20 over the Shock. Washington Adventist, unwilling to be shut out, fought hard for points in the third set. The Crusaders were unable to keep back the Shock's momentum and fell in this set 25-19. Going into the fourth and final set, Christendom was resolved to take the match. Both teams played aggressively as they went neck and neck in the set, switching the lead continuously. With a serving run for necessary points by Captain Catherine Brezinsky (Senior/ Montrose, CO), the Crusaders were able to gain the edge over the Shock in the final points of the match. Christendom came up victorious in the fourth set 25-23 over Washington Adventist.
Although Christendom was working hard as a team both on offense and defense, libero Aimee Simpson (Freshman/ Mandeville, LA) carried the team on defense with 29 digs. On offense, Margaret Stahl (Senior/ Linden, VA) had multiple notable plays adding to the victory.
Up Next: The Crusaders will play a tri-match this Saturday, October 12th, at home against Penn State York at 12 pm and Appalachian Bible at 4pm.
