Crusaders Fall in Hard-Fough Senior Night Match
Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Volleyball team put up an impression match against rival Penn State Mont Alto this past Thursday, Senior Night, eventually falling 3-1 to the Nittany Lions.

The first set was a tight one with both teams fighting to gain control of the momentum of the game. Captain Catherine Brezinsky (Senior/ Montrose, CO) helped carry the Crusaders in this match with impressive serves. Both teams battled hard to claim this close set. With a final kill from Freshman Lucy Stahl (Freshman/ Linden, VA), the Crusaders took the set 25-23.
The Crusaders were unable to carry their momentum into the second set. The Nittany Lions capitalized on this opportunity and performed well on offense. Christendom, having an off set, fell to Penn State 10-25.
Christendom brought renewed aggression to the third set. The Crusaders had impressive blocking, and a great battle on the net by Senior Margaret Stahl (Senior/ Linden, VA). Although this set was also extremely close, the Crusaders could not hold the Nittany Lions. The final score of this set was 25-22 Penn State over Christendom.
In the fourth and final set of the match, the Crusaders battled hard to stay in the game. Penn State racked up points early on, but Christendom worked towards a comeback in this decisive set. The Crusaders could not make up for the lack of points and lost to the Nittany Lions 25-18 in the fourth set. This set determined the match result: Penn State 3-1 over Christendom.
The team's seniors played a crucial role in the team's success. Seniors Catherine Brezinsky, Margaret Stahl, Adrienne McShurley (Senior/ Linden, VA), and team manager Annie Crnkovich brought competitiveness and great attitude to the team.
